What does DWA do | |
We mainly focus on making functional wood art. I love art with a function. For example, the parquet floor, the wall, the table or a staircase is elevated to art. That people wonder for a moment about what they see, walk or sit on. All artworks are one-off-a-kinds because I hate doing the same thing over and over and want all my artworks to remain unique. I enjoy working with clients and architects who want to incorporate more art into their buildings and dare to color outside the lines. Can't doesn't exist, I think there's always a way. After all, building with wood also has the future, because wood from well-managed forests is circular. It is easy to work with, it has a long lifespan and you can make very artistic things with it. I also think it is important to involve young people in projects. Because I want to show them that you can also do very creative things with a craft. In addition to the visual aspect, there is also a lot of creativity involved in making, because you are making something that has never been done before and then you have to reinvent the wheel a lot. | In many cases I therefore need the help of people with other areas of expertise because many solutions come from other fields. With the Night Watch project I therefore entered into a collaboration with Regius College from Schagen. The goal that we both have in mind is to bring students into contact with creativity, crafts and entrepreneurship. It has been agreed that only students who like it on the basis of an internship will participate in the project. Because I'm against doing something you don't like. We hope that as the project progresses, more and more students will join the project. After 2 years of preparation, I will complete the Night Watch in wood in the beginning of 2024 Destination is still unknown but hope to get this Night Watch around the world.
Sincerely,
