Sponsor a pixel and help me find connection

By sponsoring Nachtwachtpixels*, you can commit yourself to the project.  In addition, one euro from every sponsored pixel goes to the Dutch Wood Artist Foundation.  This foundation aims, among other things, to draw attention to the importance of creativity in crafts and to promote it, especially among the youth.  So: support the project, support creativity and look for connection with me.  #connection #craftsmanship #creativity

Kind regards, Jakko Woudenberg

Just imagine: Rembrandt's imposing Night Watch with its enormous dimensions - almost 16 square meters! - reproduced in minute detail. Not brushed in paint, but etched in wood.  This is the ambition of a new phenomenon in the art world: Jakko Woudenberg from Warmenhuizen, North Holland. Dutch Wood Artist Jakko Woudenberg has more than earned his stripes as a wood specialist. The Master Parqueteer has been recently honoured with the prestigious WFB Design Awards (categories Best Stair and Best Commercial Floor). He’s even appeared on the cover of the American WFB magazine. Jakko also wins the 2021 CFJ/CFA Award.

The world's most famous work of art soon to be available in a 20m2 wood format!

The Night Watch

The Night Watch project was a step which logically followed from Woudenberg being commissioned to use parquet flooring to decorate a coffee counter with a text covering Jan Adriaanszoon Leeghwater.

Leeghwater. ‘Why not depict the famous portrait of the engineer in wood?’ And so it happened.

Jakko Woudenberg's Night Watch project has many aspects. It not only brings satisfaction to the artist himself, but also serves to demonstrate the importance of time-honoured craftsmanship. The boundary between craftsmanship and art is often blended. Think of the applied arts or artisanry. Here, functional objects - buildings, furniture, clothing, etc. - are aesthetically conceived and materialised.

The Night Watch of wood-episode 2

Jakko realises the relatively long-term scope of the project, and has therefore made thorough preparations. Down to the smallest detail. He estimates that three years are required to realise these ambitions, and so the support of others will be indispensable. This motivates his search to gather a select group around him who will support him in word and deed - and yes, also with funding.
